Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 18, 2026
Applies to: Blinkzy Android · Blinkzy macOS · Blinkzy Windows
1. Information We Collect
Blinkzy does not collect any personal information. No account creation is required on any platform.
Android: All app settings (blink style, colors, interval, preferences) are stored locally using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.
macOS & Windows: All app settings are stored locally in a settings file on your computer (~/Library/Application Support/Blinkzy/ on macOS, %APPDATA%\Blinkzy\ on Windows). A tamper-resistant backup of your trial start date is also stored in your system's Java Preferences. None of this data is transmitted to any server.
2. Age Verification
Android only. On first launch, the Android app asks you to confirm your age group. This is used solely to comply with app store regulations and is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to any server.
The macOS and Windows apps do not include age verification.
3. Advertising
Android only. The free version of the Android app displays ads provided by Google AdMob. Google AdMob may collect certain data as described in Google's Privacy Policy, including:
- Device identifiers (advertising ID)
- IP address
- General usage data for ad personalization
Android Premium subscribers do not see any ads, and no ad-related data is collected for them. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's settings under Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization.
macOS & Windows: The desktop apps contain no advertising of any kind.
4. Purchases & License Activation
Android: Optional premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play. Payment information is handled by Google and is never accessible to us. See Google Payments Privacy Notice for details.
macOS & Windows: Purchases are processed by LemonSqueezy. When you activate a license key, the app sends your license key and the label "Blinkzy Desktop" to the LemonSqueezy API solely to verify your purchase. LemonSqueezy returns your customer email address and a unique instance ID, which are then stored locally on your device. Payment information is handled entirely by LemonSqueezy and is never accessible to us. See LemonSqueezy's Privacy Policy for details.
5. App Capabilities & Permissions
Android requests the following permissions:
- Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Required to show the blink reminder overlay. The overlay is transparent, does not block touch input, and does not capture or record any screen content.
- Foreground service: Keeps the blink reminder running reliably in the background.
- Internet: Used only for displaying ads (free version) and processing in-app purchases.
- Receive boot completed: Optional auto-start feature to resume blink reminders after device restart.
macOS & Windows use the following OS capabilities:
- Screen overlay: Creates transparent windows that display blink animations across all connected monitors. The overlay does not capture, record, or transmit any screen content.
- System tray: Runs a small icon in the system tray so you can control the app without opening a window.
- Auto-start on login (optional): On macOS, creates a LaunchAgent entry (
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.blinkzy.desktop.plist). On Windows, adds an entry toHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. This can be disabled in settings. - Internet: Used only to activate or periodically validate your license key with LemonSqueezy. The app works fully offline; validation falls back to cached status if no connection is available.
- System audio: Plays a system beep for 20-20-20 break reminders if enabled in settings.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share any user data with third parties.
- Android: Google AdMob (free users only) operates under its own privacy policy.
- Android: Google Play processes subscription payments under Google's privacy policy.
- macOS & Windows: LemonSqueezy processes license purchases and validates license keys under their own privacy policy.
No other third-party services are integrated in any version of Blinkzy.
7. Data Retention
All data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling Blinkzy removes all associated app data. There is nothing stored on our servers to delete.
On macOS and Windows, uninstalling also removes the auto-start entry and settings file. The Java Preferences backup is removed automatically when the app is fully uninstalled.
8. Children's Privacy
Blinkzy is not directed at children under 13. On Android, the age verification screen prevents children under 13 from using the app. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
